Happy New Year everyone! This year you are going to be seeing much more paintings and drawings from me. In the past, this website has been an amalgam of all my interests, starting this year I’m dedicating it to my paintings, drawings, processes, and inspirations. I’ve archived all my blog posts that don’t relate directly […]
I bought myself a couple of artist books for my birthday. One is on George Inness (May 1, 1825 – August 3, 1894) and the other on Charles Burchfield (April 9, 1893 – January 10, 1967). I picked them because they both were influenced by their spirituality and painted, quite differently from each other, how […]
I started a new sketch book for watercolor sketching, my goal is to do several a week. We had our first snow here in Columbus. I love how it looked in the garden sticking to dried up plants. Behind the fence there are several buildings that all appeared grey. I blocked them in and […]
This is an image I’ve reworked. It was watercolor on paper and I wasn’t entirely thrilled with it. So, I gessoed over it and went back in with more watercolor and some gouache. I’m extremely happy with how this has changed and developed. 10.5″ x 14″ available for purchase, $200. Contact me for details.
Earlier this month I went to Darby Creek to do some sketching. Below are some of the sketches I came home with. If you subscribed to my monthly letter you got to read more about my experience. You can sign up for it here. This was my first time taking out my travel sketch bag […]
The light and shadows on the pond yesterday morning were incredible. It was a good exercise in seeing shapes and not objects. Also after I did the line drawing marking were the shapes were, I went to the porch to sit and finish the drawing. I did this because I didn’t want to get sucked […]
I finished school and have graduated. It’s exciting to be done and even with all the things I want to do there is a “so now what” kind of feeling. I would say that art school is 90% teaching techniques and the remainder is discovering your style and subject matter. I learned a lot of […]
Waterfall Woman is mixed media on paper. This is part of a drummer series.
Ever since taking a landscape class I fell in love with making them. I have to say it was unexpected and I find that there is a great deal spirituality in the observation and creation of these landscapes. I’ll be creating a separate gallery page for my landscapes, but below are several I’ve been working […]
